WoW! I love this scripture! This is the power and the confidence that we have in our God. Our God is dependable. His word is solid. His plans do not change. What He speaks He fulfills!

Let’s break it down piece by piece. “God is not man, that he should lie”. First of all, Hallelujah, God is not man! ;o)  God is God. Flawless, perfect, unconditional love, merciful, with unsearchable understanding! God does not lie. God IS Truth. What a relief to know that God will not, nor cannot lie!

“Or a son of man, that he should change his mind.” I’m sure you know someone that is a “fickle pickle”.  We all have someone in our life. (I actually used to be one) You know the type ~ wishy washy, can’t make a decision, and if (s)he does ~ can’t stick with it. That’s not our God! He is dependable! Just as you can count on the sun rising in the morning, you can depend on God… making good on His promises!

“Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?” Well, let’s start with Abraham. God said He would bless him, make him a great nation, and make his name great. Check. What God showed Joseph in his dreams about his brothers bowing down to him came true. (Note: It took some hardship for all of them, but it was fulfilled.)  We have the prophecy of the virgin birth in Isaiah 7:14, Jesus ascending and descending from heaven Proverbs 30:4. And the list goes on and on.

This is our God, ladies and gentlemen! Dependable and true! Unwavering and faithful! And this you can trust in… and have faith in!

Scripture like this builds that foundation of faith.  I know… you probably prefer New Testament readings, but there is some real gold throughout the bible. Many treasures are nestled inside.  I love to go treasure hunting!  I encourage you to go treasure hunting in your bible today.  Ask the Holy Spirit to help you uncover the treasure that is specifically for you, in this space and time.

Blessings to you in the name of Jesus Christ!
