Who are we to God ~ that as Job asks ~ He would visit us in the morning and test us every moment. Set His heart on us?
I love to ponder who we are to God. Think about how great He is. Think of all that He has created. All that is in His sight. We are so small compared to all of His creation ~ and yet ~ He thinks of us! Dreams for us, watches over us, provides for us. There is never a moment where He is unaware of us. NEVER.
Who are we that God sets His heart on us?
We are His treasure. His joy. His valuable possession. His glory. His beloved.
He visits us, leans His ear toward us. Turns His face to us… because of who we are to Him.
Here it comes… the last part of the verse… He tests us. Not my favorite part of the journey. Probably not your favorite part, either. But here it is. Unavoidable. Inescapable…. testing.
The tests may vary for us: temptation, health issues, pride issues, fears, phobias, relationship issues… the list goes on and on. The key to handling the tests is knowing it is for our good. Knowing that these tests grow us, evolve us, prepare us, strengthen us, bring us closer to Him, fill us with more of Him and His light ~ so He may increase and our ego can decrease. That’s the goal, right?!
So when we enter these tests with the attitude of growth, evolution, increasing in faith, increasing in God’s light, walking closer with Him ~ it helps us to “count it all joy” as James calls us to do. James says “Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” James 1:2-4
Count it all joy, my friends! God is for you! Nothing is against you. Everything in life is exactly as it should be!
You are growing, evolving… being filled with God’s light!
And you are so very LOVED!
